Personalization is set to default. The default parameter in CUCM normally means that there is a default configuration set at the Enterprise Parameter or Service Parameter level. If the common phone profile phone personalization configuration item is set to Enabled or Disabled, this setting will override the enterprise parameter inheritance (assuming the common phone profile is assigned to the phone). The phone personalization setting can also be set at the phone level (Device > Phone). The phone configuration will override any inheritance from either the common phone profile or enterprise parameter. The Bulk Administration Tool (BAT) is a useful tool to update parameters across many phones at once. BAT is available on the /ccmadmin page: Bulk Administration > Phones > Update Phones > Query. You can search for phones to update with a variety of parameters including the following: • Device Name • Description • Directory Number • Calling Search Space • Device Pool • Device Type • Call Pickup Group • LSC Status • Authentication String • Location • Phone Load Name • Device Protocol • Security Profile In a centralized call processing deployment with many sites, I find it useful to set the Description field to include a site identifier. This allows the administration to use BAT to update a phone parameter for every phone at that site. Site specific Calling Search Spaces (CSS) or Device Pools (DP) can achieve the same objective.
